Specifically for the Panasonic G10, but I think it will apply to the four thirds technology in general -

Is there any mechanical noise when the shutter is pressed like there is with an SLR?

I will likely be taking concert photographs (classical) where any camera noise would be a nuisance...

    Thanks,

Yes, the focal plane shutter makes mechanical noise when a photo is taken with any micro-four/thirds camera. But not nearly as loud as an SLR with a mirror that must first flip up. If your SLR allows mirror lock-up this probably approximates the amount of sound it makes.

Digital cameras with a non-removal lens have a leaf shutter whose noise is almost too little to hear.
