Nicely framed. There is something quite melancholy about this image and that fact that the deceased's name has been lost to time (or vandals) and his remains are only marked by his date of death. Puts me in mind of the very transitive nature of our existance.
By the way, is there any hope of deciphering any of the text at the bottom of the marker?
Although I was similarly nonplussed momentarily (is he saying that the shot is taken facing toward that compass point?), I assume Mr. Panther was just shorthanding "Words/ No Words" which is a common photo forum convention. In this instance I assume that the inference is that the image left him speechless.
"Till we one day may leave our earthly home."
That looks like the last line. Very poignant. Are you able to make out any of the rest? I'm just intrigued because most markers I've seen are not nearly so verbose. The lesson I've learned from this one is to put my name at the bottom (where it's safer) and write the manifesto up top.
Hey! that's my birthday, wrong year though.......
Separate names with a comma.
