Last week I returned from spending ten days in Maui with my family for spring break. It was a family trip, not a photography trip. Regardless, I kept my GM1 close at hand and managed to take some photos along the way. I haven't finished going through everything yet, but here are some I've edited to date. All were taken with a GM1. Lenses were P14, P12-32, P45-150 and O60 macro. Comments and criticisms are welcome!

We arrived to some less than tropical conditions and those persisted for several days. The upside was that it provided some amazing skies and sunsets.

For some reason, there seemed to be a lot of chickens roaming around, usually at completely random places.

Some nice shots here, Evan. The weather certainly doesn't look like what I expect from Hawaii but it's good to hear you looked on the bright side.

I'm not sure if you're looking for comments and critique here, but I feel that image you chose to lead with is by far the weakest of the bunch. Maybe you were simply "setting the scene" weather-wise?

My faves are the "Road to Hana" shot, the VW and the sunset in the second batch.

Oh wow I was just there 2 or 3 weeks back and never saw those turtles! What beach were they on? Well done. Looks like you captured the essence of a Hawaii vacation.

I am definitely interested in any critiques. The only way I'll improve is to figure out what I should do differently. In looking at my post, I agree with you about that image being weak. I was trying to set the stage, but in Lightroom on my iMac, it looks more vibrant with some subtle gradations of colour that are interesting (to me). Looking at the image on my work PC and my phone, it just looks dark, flat and boring. Having said that, I had my son (who does some photography and has a good eye) look at the images and he told me that one was useless. I should have listened to him! Thanks for the input.

Here's another Road to Hana shot that I like just as well.

All aside from whether it's a good photograph, the VW was just superb! Thanks again for the feedback.

They were at Ho'okipa Beach Park in Paia just south of the airport. That's also where we saw the seal. They have a portion of the beach cordoned off to give both the seal and the turtles their space. That was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

Yeah I'm kinda jealous I didn't know about that :). I did manage to get a whale breach which was probably better than I hoped. Like you weather was not on our side.

I'd think about trading a seal and some turtles for a whale breach. :D My son was returning from a dive and a whale breached just next to the boat. Of course, he didn't have a camera at hand.

Nice shot! Yes, the exchange rate is painful. We booked the airfare last summer when things were a lot different. With the USD where it is, it's not cheap to visit anywhere in the states, but in particular a place like Maui.

enjoyable location! I like the sunset/dusk beach shots.
Maybe it's the overcast weather, I do find some photo's appear a little undexposed for my liking. I would consider changing the WB of the paw-paw photo, to slightly less green.
