Madison Winter Festival

    Every year the Madison Winter Festival brings in truckloads of snow to turn the streets around the Capitol Square into a cross country ski race course; there's also snowboarding competitions, snowshoeing, and other activities. Here's a few photos I took today - if I can make it back tomorrow I'll update later.

    And to top it off, we didn't even have a "real" winter this year, and it was about 40 degrees today! (we washed the salt off our cars) I'm just up the road a ways in Sauk County.

    The ice sculpture is awesome. Do you have more of those?

    I'm too busy to make it down to the square this weekend, nice bunch of shoots. I thought you weren't getting much of a summer in Aus. ( that's what my parents told me anyway)

    Thanks for the comments all. It was warmer today and I guess the ice sculptor was only working yesterday, so the pieces he left had melted somewhat. BTW, ice in shadows is hard to photograph - I think I got lucky yesterday with some nice backlighting. Most of the action today was the ski racing.

    All with the SMC Takumar 50/1.4
