First off, I hope this has not been covered elsewhere, I searched and could not find any examples so decided to share some findings.

I've been curious about this for some time and finally got some time to try it out. The MCON-P01 is designed for Olympus lenses and is a bayonet type mount.
I don't own an Oly 12-40, but I wonder how it's macro capability compares with the Panasonic 12-35 working with the MCON-P01 macro converter. Anyway, here are some comparison test shots, all pics are LR converted JPEGS at max resolution with EXIF intact:

    1. 100% crop, 12-35 followed by 12-35 + MCON-P01, focus point was the 'G'

    2. Uncropped, 12-35 + MCON-P01, focus point was around the number '9'

    3. Uncropped, 12-35 followed by 12-35 + MCON-P01, focus point was around the bison's head

As you can see, it does make a noticeable difference and the quality does not seem adversely effected.
Now, before you go and try to buy a MCON-P01, I want to be clear that it is fiddly putting it on and taking it off the lens since it was not designed for it. However, once secured it does stay on and is not loose or prone to falling off. I would not recommend you spend the MSRP for this but if you can find it cheap, it may be worth it to you.

Now I'm curious how the MCON-P01 would respond to a Panasonic 35-100?
If any Oly 12-40 owners want to take a pic of a US quarter coin and post it, we can compare the output
