    It's beeen a while ...

Original post Bee on My Finger

I keep buckets of tap water in the garden to evaporate the chlorine and usually check them for accidental visitors daily. This bee was drowning when I came along and lifted it our by raising my finger under it and that way began its recovery.

Fantastic work. I saw the photos in your blog and they are truly impressive. I would love to learn how to take photos like that !!

What lens and settings did you use for these photos?

Glad the bee wasn't freaked by the camera getting too close - I take it she didn't sting you. :)

I can just hear the bee sighing, "My hero!"

    Good save and wonderful photos.

Yes, a hard night out and ended up in the drink.

Thanks. I go into the process in my sig link here : http://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/ There are some useful links in the comments too but it does take time and practise - no getting away from that.

My primary camera is still the Pany FZ50 + achromats and snooted/diffused popup - Pany G1 + Oly macro lenses on occasion.

The bee was exhausted and by the time it was recovering I was already an integral part of its world/reality so it perceived no threat.

    Thanks. I didn't know they sing ... :)

Absolutely stunning photographs, Mark. I came to bed well over an hour ago, picked up my tablet to have a quick mooch around the forum and stumbled upon your post and your blog. I'm amazed by the quality of those shots, there's obviously a lot of years experience gone into them.

I've not finished looking through them all yet but that will be for tomorrow night and I'll start on reading the text as well, I want to learn more about how you do that.

Thanks Dewi. When I was learning the basics I found a lot of what was published on the web was nonsense, for me anyway. It was a process of elimination until I found what works, for me. And there were many sources of good information. Google SteB, Dalantech, Orionmystery, LordV, etc, etc who are more tech minded, you need to understand the tech's.
