M81 & M82

  1. First attempt at M81 & M82 galaxies. This is a stack of 25 frames each 4 min @ ISO400. Unfortunately my polar alignment seems to have been a bit off, resulting in a bit of streaking in the stars. I used my E-M10.

    What telescope did you use?

I have an 8" reflector and I've only seen them once in my light polluted back yard. And this was when the city lost power for 5 days! Nice shot.

  3. Hi, I have an Altair Astro Lightwave 72 ED-R F6 Refractor, which has a 432mm focal length. They took some finding! I have a GOTO mount which has found them before, but I had some issues last night finding them. I had to first go to Dubhe, then up to HR 3757 and then along then down. I used my GX7 to help find them, as that has a constant preview feature that is strong enough to show the galaxies. I too live in a very light polluted area.
