    Ok,

    Not that kind of thread.

And don't cheat by looking at my other threads or the EXIF data.

    Which is which? :2thumbs:

One is taken with 5D MKII with 120-300mm Sigma OS with Sigma TC 1.4X + 2X and the other is taken with Olympus E-PM2 with Panasonic 100-300mm

FF picture is processed from RAW file but M43 is processed from JPG because I can't open Olympus RAW with my current version of PSE.

    I'd say first is FF

First. But regardless; m43 IQ has improved quite a bit with the em-5, now even more with the em-1. What I'm trying to get is more of the FF depth of field; which can happen but only with voigts at 0.95 or 1.2.
Regardless; I'm waiting for the EM-1, super stoked!

First is 5DII. The noise in the blacks of image #2 gives it away almost instantly - at least to my eyes. What's impressive to me is how well those Sigma TC's take - although admittedly I don't have much experience with TCs.

Plenty of noise in the first one but something seriously wrong with the second (jpeg compression artifacts?).

Raw vs jpeg is not a fair comparison (especially since OV3 is free so no excuse).

Yet this is unscientific at best. Different lenses, different moon, and completely different processing.

On my phone screen u43 picture looks better actually.

I will try again but with more controlled setting during full moon.

Full moon is boring. Much more interesting with that terminator shadow.

I know. But It's all in the name of science. And I won't get to it until later this week

To me no matter what "frame", at super telephoto and at a greater distance it makes less and less difference.
Where you really see the difference is with standard lenses through to wideangle lenses
at large diameter apertures and of things closer to you ...

Could you use the free Adobe Raw to DNG converter? I now import my Raw files as DNG into Lightroom because PSE 11 does not recognise my G6 files.

Wouldn't be surprised if #2 was the 5D, there are 2 TC's on the lens. It seems wonky, something 2 TCs may do.

More likely the CA not being removed from the Panny lens on the Oly body...

Bu noise do you mean the color noise in the "Mares"? Your eyes are better trained than mine.

No, while there's some "splotchiness" on the detail of the moon itself I was referring more to the black space around the moon. If I shift my head just a little to the left or right, the artifacts and noise in the shadows becomes quickly noticeable, at least on my monitor.

I'm wondering why the 5D needed a 1.4x and 2x TC since a 2x should have given you the same focal length compared to the m43.

    Really? I'm on a dell u2312hm, calibrated with a spyder3 and dispcalgui.

I ran the image through PS to exaggerate the effect, but this is how it looks like on my monitor - to a far subtler degree, of course:

    whvt-1.

    I wasn't doing a comparative experiment.

I wanted to stack TCs to see how it worked.

To get a decent size file, I think we really need 1,000mm+

I still have to crop quite a bit with both TCs.
