Lycosa tarantula

    Ok, this is my first photo sharing...
    This is a Tarantula that lives in the basement of my house.

    I'm normally a bit arachnophobic. However tarantulas are the exception. There are large numbers of tarantulas where I live in Texas. They are really fascinating. We just got through mating season with them. I would see 10-12 of them every night when I was out walking my dogs. Here's a brief and interesting article on them:

    There actual quite gentle and I occasionally picked one up with no problem. The females tend to be more passive than the males. Some females can live up 25 years.

    You could zhoosh that up a bit, or to remain more true just apply a touch of sharpening:
