Is it possible they could release the lens on the LX100 with a m43 mount?
Usually in these, the lenses collapse into the body.
Also, don't assume the LX100 lens is as good as the 12-35/2.8. It's likely not. Could be one reason the sensor on the LX100 is only 12MP. The resolution on the lens might not be as good.
probably not directly. the image circle for the multi aspect ratio sensor is smaller than the normal 4:3 m4/3 sensor. so the lens is probably optimized for that. There would be vignetting on a normal 4/3 sensor.
Also, it's possible some of the lens elements actually collapse into the body also.
It looks like the flange distance is much less than a m43 interchangeable lens system
It's really not a full m43 camera. Making a regular m43 sensor into a multi-aspect one let them use a smaller lens. It's actually rather clever.
