Some pedestrian snaps of Lunenburg, but I thought a glimpse of this World Heritage site might be of interest to some. Established in 1753 by the British as a colonial town for over 1,400 Protestant German, Swiss and Montbéliardian French colonists, Lunenburg is the best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Lunenburg is the home of the famous 'Bluenose', a frequent stop for Tall Ships tours, and host of many yearly events such as the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, the Wooden Boat Festival, dory racing, and more.

The Lunenburg Bump. Architecturally this is an enlarged dormer extended out over the eaves, either five-sided or rectangular. Most are situated in the centre of the front façade over the entrance, which may be in an attached storm porch. Decorative elements include complex dormer roofs (from bellcast to triple-tiered varieties),
bracketry, panelling and fretwork, gablets on the dormers, cornices and window ornamentation.

I've only been to Lunenberg once, in 2004. It was wonderful. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. I really have to go back. See Nova Scotia before you die! Thanks, John.
