hi folks im new to this site and Mfts. how do I focus pull on my g3 while in movie mode? thanks.
You need to select manual focus if you want to pull focus while shooting video.
I watched Gordon Langs (Cameralabs, video clip ) of the g3 focus pulling in movie mode using the touchscreen. But no mention of how it was achieved. I tried Googling focus pulling with the g3. Everybody says it does in their reviews but no one explains how it is done. Im at a loss. Help!!
Make sure that your screen is activated for touch focus, then just touch the area that you want in focus while shooting video.
thanks so easy to setup, got my knickers in a twist for nothing. the 14-42 is ok, but now my fancy is tickled. gonna have to save up for a HD lens. nadgers!!
Oh wow!! I actually had no idea you could do that with the GH3!!
Wow! I just set it up and it worked!
I honestly didn't know it did this, our G3 is the main video camera since with the screen flipped out and facing forward my boy can see himself making a video.
In movie menu I found the touch AF setting, switched it on : Sigma 30mm on the front it smoothly pulled focus from across the room to close in, absolutely brilliant.
Gordon at Camera Labs is a big fan of pulling focus on the touch screen of Panasonic cameras. And, for an extra special G3 treat, you should read about EX Tele Conv. (aka Extended Tele Conversion) here: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/panasonic_gh2_11_mode_revealed.shtml . while the article talks about the GH2, the feature is also available on the G3.
thanks for your help Ken. I meant Gordon no disrespect, im a big fan of his site. Ive tried Ex Tele Conv works well with my M42 lenses. cheers
