Lumix 42.5mm f1.7 . . . not just for portraits!

  1. I reccently picked up a used Pany 42.5/1.7 because of the price, size/weight and closer than ususal focus abilities. Wow! Very cool lens! I don't shoot much portraiture but wanted the extra stop and compact size compared to my 35-100 and find this a total winner in my bag. Here are a couple pics from a recent trip.

Nice set @danelkins@danelkins. I really enjoy the P42.5/1.7 also. Remarkably versatile.

My 42.5mm f1.7 is fast becoming my favourite lens for family days out. I absolutely love the way it renders, it's focus speed and the DoF control it gives. It's absolutely brilliant

  4. Yes it is. I think it gets looked over a lot because of the existence of the PL42.5/1.2 along with some complaints of the older Oly 45/1.8. The lens is a great value

    Hello,
just got my p42.5mm and I am amazed by the sharpness and the dop i am getting.

However, I am shooting with the EM5 markII and get a lot of chromatic aberration as soon as i shot against a source of light even at f4
    anyone else experiencing that?

Yes, mine does have quite a bit of CA on my EM-5. It's usually easy to fix in LR though with CA correction and occasionally some defringe applied. Have to shoot on a Panasonic body if you want in camera correction unfortunately (zero issues on my GH4).

Images with P42.5, GX8, some cropping. This little lens is quickly becoming more useful than I expected – nice when it happens that way!
