Just wondering if anyone has heard more on when the Lumix 14/2.x (.5, .8 whatever it ends up being) is due for release? Maybe it was here or maybe elsewhere, but I hope the nasty rumor that it may not be released isn't true. Anyone have some inside info?

I haven't heard anything about it not being released?

I'm hoping that Olympus will bring a fast 11mm or 12mm prime lens this year too. It's on their roadmap.

Cheers

When doing a search for anything new on the lens, I came across someone claiming they were speaking to a Panasonic rep that said the 14 was done but the 8mm fisheye was still in the mix. Don't have the link handy, sorry.

**Nevermind** found a link to the Oly lens roadmap, though all it said was 'wide' prime.

Hadn't heard anything definite about an Oly 11 or 12mm. The 12mm would suit me even better than the 14. Have a link about it?

A Panasonic rep in Toronto recently told me that an 8mm is due out instead, and soon. That, and the 14mm has been scrapped.

Yeah, that's the lens I want. The 20mm is just a bit too far for my taste.

The 14mm prime pancake would be a great addition to my 20mm and small enough to carry all the time.
I was under the impression it was due for release this summer so I for one will be both surprised and dissapointed if it is shelved but could not see that happening son close to release.
Once they have the 14mm out, they should release a nice fast 50mm prime for portraits.

I can't see why they wouldn't... the 20mm f1.7 must have been their top selling lens so far. Having established that kind of reputation, Panasonic surely would want to deliver.

On the other hand, we have no idea how the marketing and behind the scenes politics is progressing... perhaps Panasonic and Olympus will be more coordinated, given the impending Sony splash?

Cheers

I'm actually holding out for this one.
The 9-18 is now available but I can't see a use for a 36mm 5.6.
Not for steady use. I hope they get the 14 to f2.0.
