Traditional Christmas Eve farolitos are made from brown paper bags weighted down with sand and illuminated from within by a lit candle. These are typically arranged in rows to create large and elaborate displays. The hope among Roman Catholics is that the lights will guide the spirit of the Christ child to one's home.

Old Town, Santa Fe Plaza, Jemez St. Monument, often have rich displays of the lighted little bags, attracting thousands each year, pictures don't do this show justice, it must be experienced.

This is just one of many reason why New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment..

Last night we shot these images, had homemade Tamales, sung Christmas Carols, and enjoyed the sights, and sounds, and wonderful smells found in Old Town, during the Holiday stroll.......

Being born in Alberquerque, and living most of my life in Tucson, your shots really make me miss the Southwest! Doesn't help that it's December in Pittsburgh out here ...

    ... thanks for sharing!
