Lower Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon on Navajo land east of Page, AZ. It is one of two separate, scenic slot canyon sections; the other being Upper Antelope Canyon. Lower Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other geological processes. It is located several miles from Upper Antelope Canyon. Even following the installation of metal stairways to aid in the descent into and ascent out of the Canyon. it is a more difficult hike than Upper Antelope Canyon. It is longer, narrower in places, and even footing is not available in all areas.

Antelope Canyon is the #1 place on my bucket list. I keep hinting to my wife for us to go to Vegas so I can grab a side trip there. Casinos not my thing.
Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shots Mark. Was this a guided tour, or can you just drop in and visit it?
Harvey,

The canyons are controlled by the Navajo nation and you need to go on a tour. For the Lower Canyon, there are two tours groups (vs five operating in the Upper Canyon). Both are affiliated with one another and consequently they operate collaboratively so crowd control is much better than in the Upper Canyon.

Maybe the most beautiful place i have ever visited. The covered area on the entrance seems to be new.

These are exceptional. And this place looks fantastic. I didn’t know of it, but it’s now up there with ‘swimming with whale sharks’ for me, ie something I’d love to do but will be unlikely to get there any time soon! The natural world never ceases to amaze me with its beauty. Thank you for sharing. I love this forum!
