I am looking for a couple of minimalistic cases for the GH3 with the following lenses:

    Case 1: GH3 + 12-35mm f/2.8

    Case 2: GH3 + 35-100mm f/2.8

    Case 3: GH3 + 12-35mm f/2.8 with a pocket for the 35-100mm f/2.8

I think in order to buy only one case, probably option 2 is the best, because if the case can accomodate the 35-100 lens it will definitely accomodate the 12-35 lens.

Biggest requirement is Camera and Lens protection and good quality case, any suggestion?, thanks

Hi, I use the Panasonic DMW-CG2 bag with my GH3 and it works very well. Initially I was skeptical that the same bag that I've had with my G1, GH1, and GH2 would fit now larger sized GH model. The accessory website confirmed that the GH3 and 12-35 or the GH3 and 14-140 lens would fit in the case.

The 12-35 is 74mm in length, the 14-140 is 84mm in length. I don't have a 35-100 (yet), but I can tell you that my 45-200 which is 100mm in length fits without issue (With the lens hood reversed in the storage position). The GH3/45-200 combination is probably the maximum capacity that the case can handle and still close comfortably. The 35-100 is the same in overall length as the 45-200 and 3mm narrower in diameter.

I like the case because it has a single flap with a magnetic button type closure. It's got nice space opening at the top for the shoulder strap to stick out of and allow you to hold. I like using the shoulder strap because if the case were to somehow come off, I've still got the camera securely attached to me.

The overall construction of the case is fantastic. The ballistic nylon type exterior shows virtually no wear after 3 years. The inside is well made with a softer material. In the bottom of the case are two small velcro pockets which will fit a GH3 battery in the one and a couple small SD cases in the other. It's a good case for traveling with a single lens attached and is unobtrusive. Others probably offer more protection at the expense of size.

Back when I purchased the case in 2010, it seemed difficult to find in the States and I bought it from a Japanese ebay reseller. I just did a quick search and it looks like Japanese ebay resellers are still about the only place to find it. Cost about $70 w/ shipping.

    Hope this helps.

    Case for GH3

I use a Tamrac 515. It is part of a series (514, 515, etc.). It will hold:
    • GH3 with 12-35 and hood mounted
    • GH3 with 35-100 (hood removed or reversed)
    • GH3 with 100-300 (hood removed or reversed)
It is a system with side bags available -- shortest hold the 12-35 or 35-100 with hoods reversed, next largest size needed for 100-300 storage. So I can, if I choose, carry all three lenses with this system -- or with one mounted lens I remove the two side pockets (which are held by Velcro and snaps).

But, a downside, it is not an all-weather solution. For that situation I tend to use Lowe AW bags -- or carry some ziploc bags.
