I'm probably going to end up selling my PL1 kit to buy a G3. I really want to get a nice zoom though, so if you have any suggestions for me, I'm all ears. Thanks

14-45; 14-140 for example. Otherwise the Zuiko 14-54II to adapt but not stabilized on G3

Thanks for the suggestions. I believe the 14-45 is the kit lens, not sure it'd live up to what I expect from a high quality zoom? I'm looking for sharpness, and avoidance of C/A and purple/bluish fringing.

The 14-45 WAS the kit lens they no more give with the body, now they give 14-42. Everyone says the 14-45 is a very good lens; but I have not tried it because when I bought mine (G3) it came with 14-42.

    Some else can answer surely.

The 14-140 is very, very, good but pricey

The 14-45 is pretty good in terms of sharpness. And on a Panasonic body, fringing will be minimal (it's corrected automatically, at least mostly).

Ah I see, thanks for the correction.

Yes the 14-140 looks very nice, though a little pricey at the moment.

The 14-45 is pretty well regarded, even for a kit zoom. The G3 will come with a 14-42 which most people consider less sharp.

Okay, then the 14-45 is sounding pretty good to me. Thank you guys.

Panasonic is hinting at high-level fast zooms for this year, so you might want to wait and see.

If she thinks the 14-140 is pricey, she won't want to pay twice as much for the 2.8 zooms coming out.

I just bought an Olympus 12-60 with my MMF-3 adapter, and it's a very nice zoom. Large-ish, but not bad on my G1. The 14-45 that came with my G1 is a nice little lens, sharp and compact. You can get them used on eBay for cheap.

You are right, and I have primes for low light, don't really need the f2.8.
