Neonate Sidewinder, hardest snake I've ever moved off a road. No sticks or shrubs around to get a stick, so we use soda bottles to get it (after striking many times) off the road. But it is cute It was about 6"

@Egregius V Gregory, they are like the Nile crocodile, nearly as big and nasty as our saltwater crocodile. All top predators.

Give me the heebie geebies! Beautiful creatures when they live about 3,000 kms away from where I live ... .

I agree - these particular subjects are about 2400 km from my abode!

The first pic I posted shows Bethany, a really nice retreat center in a suburb of Tampa, Florida. I try to make it there about every three years with other priests. We walk among the gators there - really helps with the prayer! There are plenty of small gators in the area and at least one monster about 13-14 feet long. Mostly, they stick to the lake or the island in the middle of it, avoiding people - but that doesn't make them any less intimidating. The second set of photos was taken from a tour boat somewhere to the south, near the Everglades. An easy way to get closer. I hear there are some crocs as well as gators out that way.
