I had a knock on my door yesterday from a neighbour in the town-house complex I live in. She wanted me to remove a blue tongue lizard in her back yard, as she and her female friends were terrified of it. Apparently. :)

I caught it and released it my back yard, as I have blue tongues in residence that I feed bananas and strawberries every few days. They are normally pretty timid and disappear down their hole under the patio when I get too close.

But not this fella; he was out and about exploring today and I managed a couple of shots. Seems he lost part of his tail to a lawn mower, or maybe a dog or cat.

Anyway, I hope he hangs around.

Spotted along a trail in a deeply shadowed ravine, hence the flash.

Ular Suci or Holy Snake – Tanah Lot – Bali 2019-01 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

We visited Tanah Lot, Bali, Indonesia in September – October 2019. One of the more interesting experiences was this “Ular Suci or Holy Snake” at Tanah Lot, Tabanan. Venomous sea snakes are common in the sea at Tanah Lot and are believed to protect the temple.

Despite assurances it was not venomous I didn’t take up the offer to touch it. Thankfully I didn’t try my lot as the snake is in fact a Banded sea Krait (Laticauda colubrina), one of Bali’s six venomous snakes and it is highly venomous. There is also no antivenom.

Apologies for the quality of the photo. It was taken in a cave and the snake was lit by an old torch to the right.

My first post since getting my Z6.

Gila Monsters, not the best photos given their nocturnal nature, but still decent.

All with Z6 + 50/1.8S. SOOC
