I was in Lille the last few days for a family gathering. To work off some of the food and alcohol (they know how to feast, the French), I took a walk around the town centre with the Pen-F with the 12-40 fitted:

A nice personal portrait of this town that used to be an important industrial centre and is still suffering fron the decline.

A great variety of shots there, literally something for everyone. Personally I really like the Distorted Rectangles one...

Hi Paul I'm in Johannesburg, Fourways to be more precise. Interestingly when Robin Wong visited RSA the Olympus group stayed at the Montecasino Hotel which is literally 5mins away. I tried to see him for a cup of coffee but his schedule was tight. Had a feeling he also had the E-M1x with him on test. One of the reasons their schedule was tight??? ;)

Thanks Keith - I'm going to be in RSA in a couple of weeks - but down in Cape Town. I won't have a lot of time, but I'll be there for the public holiday you have on May 8th so will be able to get out and do some photography.

Hi Paul, I'll speak to our lads at our Cape Town branch and see where the best photographic options are. At least give you some options. Obviously with your landscape expertise Table mountain, maybe also the V&A waterfront. Will chat closer to the time.

That title of this thread caught my eye! I'm going to be living not far from there in just a few months - Mons, Belgium to be specific. I've never lived in Europe, so looking forward to it. Lovely pictures...

There's a relaxed atmosphere to your photo collection - made me think if the people there are comfortable with "street photographers"?

Beautiful work, Paul! Thank you for sharing. This makes me want to go back to France, as I haven't visited in many years.

Nice series. The tones and the scenes paint a melancholic picture of the town but yet invites me to want to know more about the people and the circumstances there.

A Very Quaint town but it looks like almost all of it needs a coat of paint and stain. Great set of photos
My photos are pretty selective. In truth Lille is one of the major cities in France (fourth largest) and has a lot of modern architecture and it houses a vibrant IT and retail industry sector. The shots I took are mainly from the old town which dates from the 17th century. You can find more info on Wikipedia:
