I was sitting in my room when I heard a thunderstorm suddenly erupt outside my window... it only lasted for about ten minutes, but I was able to capture one lightning bolt quite well:

    C&C welcome :)

    nice capture!
i heard the storm rolling in last night so i caught this one from my balcony, e-pm2 with a 1950's Jupiter 8 mounted.
started bucketing down not long after so i promptly went inside haha.

WOW! That's a great shot. How long was the exposure if I may ask? I've yet to succesfully capture a lightning on "film" so that's why I ask...

Ruffdraft - Love the ghost reflection of your camera in your first shot!

Pixelvandal - if it weren't for the corner of the house that shoot would be near perfect. Eery clouds with lightning flowing down to a hill!

Photographing lightning can be tricky, I once wasted an entire roll of 36 exposure film with nothing to show{many years ago that is}.

i had it on live time actually, f stop was around f11, and i think 3 seconds of exposure? it would have been great if that house wasnt there! unfortunately.... it blocks the view from my balcony :-(

EXIF says "18," but 18 seconds seems awfully long, no? Just guessing, as I've never shot lightning ... yet.
