I have seen lots of lichen colors, but never bright red, really interesting.
It's why at least one common name for Cladonia species is lipstick lichens. The ones I've encountered have all been in more mesic areas than the intermontane west.

(Lichens aren't at all mushrooms, though, so I'm not following @mp10s's choice to cross-post.)

I thought i’ve seen them before, I assumed they were pretty common
