I couldn't pass up the new Nik Collection price now that it belongs to Google and it came out just as I was shooting shots of a project I've been working on.

I've been making glasses out of wood and was having a really difficult time showing the figure and grain but Color Efex is a one-click wonder and did the job better than I could have imagined.

shot with my GX1 and 20mm Panny

so here it is with no post-processing
    [IMG]

cropping and quick edits in Lightroom

and finishing touches in Color Efex

all in all, I shot these on some old floor boards I put on a table next to a big window and spent less than five minutes in post.

I'd say about 99% of all my digital images have some type of Nik software touch applied to them

This one because of the tonality in the original only pop using NIK color efex

Rather like Panther nearly all my photos have a degree of Nik in them but just for fun I have attached 2 pics (before and after).

I use Silver Efex Pro for all my B&W conversions and for me it is the best package on the market.

I have many images using this software and these are a small sample:

    Fire_Guard.

Installed a new video card last night, and since all was well I think I'll jump on this tonight.

What kind of learning curve am I looking at here? All of these plug-ins at once seems like it's going to be an overload. I feel like I'm just finally getting the hang of LR.

Like Iansky I also use NIK Silver Efex Pro for almost all my B&W conversions.
I am really pleased with the results but sometimes I feel a little guilty as it seems too easy.

Well I can see that I need a better lens than my 14-42 kit zoom! But here are a couple I did in Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro this morning

In this one I have used Vivaz to correct the top of the arch exposure and Color Effex 2 for giving the punch total work time of about 5 minutes.

Some probably posted in other threads... but my short time with Nik has been enjoyable. Sometimes I go back to older photos and "reprocess" them just to see the results.

Thanks... it was a bit of luck too... I visit them often and it was the one time they were squawking up a storm. No idea why.

Forgot one more. My real intent for getting Nik software was for SilverFX pro but as you can see, I've pretty much discovered all the other plugins (except HDR)... enjoy all of them. SilverFX gives a lot of control over skin rendering.

Here's my first attempts with some of the Nik software.

This is the Miami Marlins baseball stadium. Ran this one through Color Efex.

Same picture but wanted to play with HDR Efex
