Hi All,
I am trying to decide what to do about lenses. One of the great things about m4/3 is all the awesome lens choices. I currently have a set of primes; Oly 17mm f1.8, Sigma 30mm f2.8, Oly 45mm f1.8, and Oly 60mm f2.8 macro. I also have one zoom lens, the Panny 45-175mm lens. With an upcoming bonus at work I am planning on buying the long desired Oly 12-40mm lens, and will be selling the Sigma to help pay for this. I am also hoping Olympus does another one of their 20% off reconditioned sale, that's how I got my E-M1 last year.
With the wide end taken care of I am trying to figure out what to do on the telephoto end. I was considering selling the Panny 45-175 to get an Oly 75-300 because I sometimes feel like I could use more reach. On the other hand, that means the 45-75mm range would only be covered by my primes, which might be ok. I do have a Canon FD 200 mm prime which is awesome, and I have a 2x teleconverter for it, but they are manual focus.
I mainly shoot what I would call general photography, but do a lot with trains, hiking, and my kids. The main idea of longer reach on the telephoto is for birds, the moon, wildlife, etc. I will also be trying to shoot my kids little league basketball, but I figure the 12-40mm and 60mm will handle that (I used the 60 last year).
I would love to hear from someone who has the 75-300 and what they think of it, like is it too slow? Or even better someone who has had/has both. My particular 45-175 is quite sharp and does not seem to have any of the doubling issues with my E-M1. Oh, and here's a picture just because this post needs one. The photo is from the Panny 45-175, man that's one sharp lens!
