Is there a petal style/reversible lens hood in existence for the PL25?
I'm not talking about the ones that screw into the filter threads.

I don't like that I can't reverse the rectangular lens hood that comes with it.

Not that I'm aware of. Another Panasonic lens with a 46mm filter ring and available lens hood is the 45-175mm (part no VYC1066). Perhaps another forum member with both lenses can check if the bayonet threads are the same. You'll likely have to cut it down to avoid vignetting.

I ended up getting a B+W 58mm collapsible rubber lens hood with 46-58 step up ring (to match my filters). Works well enough, particularly because it allows me to turn my polarizer by turning the hood (filter mounted between step up ring and hood).

I recently purchased this for mine. I actually like it a lot. Metal, just big enough to protect the lens and it doesn't add much bulk. Plus the cap is easy plus very secure. Since it's 46MM I just screw it into the end of my filters if I want to use them.

What made you decide on the 58mm size?

Using only one filter size was the wisdom I gleaned from places like this. 58mm is the filter size of the Oly 75 and the Pany 12-35, both of which I'd like to own someday.

The Oly 14-150 & 75-300 also take 58mm filters, but they're not on my wishlist. Only the Pany 14-140, which takes 62mm filters, and the Pany 100-300, which takes 67mm filters, have larger filter rings.

Specialty filter availability in 58mm is about the same as in 52mm, which is another plausible choice for those not planning on one of the 4 58mm ring lenses. I've been able to price all sorts of 58mm filters for IR/UV/fluorescence imaging, which I'd like to get into should I get a second m43 body to convert to full spectrum.

I bought one of these, it stays attached all the time. I'd prefer a reversible one, but this one is very compact: Fotodiox Pro Angle Lens Hood Sun Shade for RF Range Finder Cameras 46mm http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B003Y32PHG

Sorry, the 25mm and 45-175mm hoods are not interchangeable. :frown: The 45-174 hood won't fit on the 25, the 25 hood is too loose on the 45-175.

Buy a bigger bag? Half-Joking.

The square hood looks awesome on the lens, I leave it on all the time.
