Last week I bought a GX800 with 12-32mm.
The 12-32 comes without a hood and has no mount for one either.
I have always used a lens hood on all of my lenses and it feels weird to use a camera without lens hood.
Any suggestions? Is it necessary to use a lens hood on the 12-32 or is it sufficient to keep the sun out of the lens with your hand if necessary?
And if someone uses a lens hood, what kind of hood do you use?

While I do tend to use hoods, on the P12-32 I don't. Instead I use the auto lens cap for the Oly 14-42 EZ. It serves the "protect the lens" hood function somewhat, but not the shade. For me the main point of the 12-32 is size, yes it's surprisingly good for it's size and price, but that's not why I have one.

I standardized on 52mm for a filter size. For the 12-32 I got 2 step rings that make a decent lens hood and accept filters. A 37-46 and a 46-52 step-up rings. You get a lens hood and a 52mm filter. For the 45/1.8 I use a 37-46, then 46-52, then 52-46, then 46-52. Again you end up with a hood and a 52mm thread. The 45-150 is 52mm, and the 14-150 takes a step-down 58-52 without vignetting.

Simple. Flexible. Awesome. Amazing. Cheap.

Most of my mini-lenses wear a 52mm step-up
ring. I use UV filters all around, and mostly old
Nikon hoods of various sizes. Once you're up
to 52mm, life is good !

Further, I'm able to verrrry thoroughly "torture
test" any lens for ghosts, veiling, flare, etc. If a
lens doesn't need a hood, I'm glad to find that
result from testing. I don't need a hood for its
"protective" aspect cuz I use UV filters.
