I have an Oly 25mm 1.8 lens that has tiny, translucent specks across the front. I'm pretty sure my photos aren't affected, but I'd like to have a clean lens. Could a reputable shop do this type of thing? There is a Hunt's Photo in my area (Boston).

    Thank you

You can clean the front element of your lens by fogging it up with your breath and then wiping it off with a soft cloth or lint free lens tissue.

But if there are any dust particles, your breath traps them and they can make scratches as you wipe the lens.

I use a rocket blower to blow off any dust then use a lenspen followed by a microfiber cloth to remove the black lenspen stuff. Seems to work pretty well for me. Not sure if it's exactly a safe method or not but, so far so good.

Don't be too scared. It takes something harder than glass to scratch it. So some patience, a soft brush and a cloth will work fine.
