Great colours and detail - I think I want one - I could put up with the slow response times.

actually pretty horrible colour to my eyes... did you do any PP with these... in particular the car at the beach and the cows in the field have really vibrant unnatural colours

Going to have to agree. Some of the images look to saturated for my taste.

Very nice! Like many here, I think it's a compelling camera but beyond my photography budget to have both this and my MFT kit.

Anyone have more X1 images to share? Christilou?

question. Is there really that big of a difference between my GF1 with the 20mm lens and the X1? I read about both, and after reading many post on different forums ended up with the GF1. I am very happy with my choice, and have never seen an X1. I know that the sensor is the same as a D300, the lens is wonderful, that said, after 50 years taking and selling photographic work, the GF1 is one of the best cameras I have ever shot with.

No there is not a huge difference. The X1 is exceptionally good at high ISO's, I feel it has a better dynamic range and the combination of the lens and the larger sensor give, to my eyes, a (marginally) sharper image. The X1 files can also produce a more saturated, higher contrast look, depending on how you set it up.

I don't regard it as a comparable camera to the GF1. Its smaller, lighter and you can't change the lens. It looks like a compact camera but has the image quality of something larger. It also has a totally different way of handling, which I like but won't suit everyone.

The GF1/20mm combination is an excellent, high quality setup and one I used a lot. The X1 however has certain things you won't find in the GF1 - completely inaudible operation, full and easy manual control and very low noise at high ISO's. Those 3 things are very important for me and what I use it for. They may be of zero interest to others.

Considering its price, you would need to be very sure that it offers what you want and that you can put up with the things that its not good at. If you have ever handled a Leica then you will have some idea of what to expect. If not it may feel rather strange.

At some point when I have time I will do a direct comparison between m4/3 with the 20mm lens and the X1 on my blog and will post some raw files for people to have a look at.

You aren't missing out on some great image quality leap by using your GF1, and on the printed page I doubt you'd notice any difference, but for certain uses I find it incredibly useful and it allows me to work in certain situations where anything else could cause problems.

X1 Pictures

I don't have my own computer at the moment as it needs "de-clogging". I hope to have it back by the weekend!. These photos were taken a couple of evenings ago and are definitely OOC jpegs! I am using my daughter's computer and she only has i-photo so I have taken the liberty of downloading a few pics and uploaded them for your perusal. I don't even know if they are the best of the bunch because I can't view them as I would like! I would probably have used some fill light and some contrast if I had them in LR as these were taken in virtually no light, one after 9pm and the other after 10pm. I think the first is iso 100 and the other at iso1600.

The low light capabilities sure look very good indeed. Virtually noiseless. Beautiful swimming pool btw. :smile:

Did they load a Kodachrome 25 based sensor into it...
