Here's a shot from the Leica Monochrom... under crappy subway lighting and probably from across the subway platform.

Not sure of the f stop or iso #'s

    ash15mono.

If only Olympus would run a batch of monochrome sensors on their warehouse of backlogged E-PL1's. They could use the old Panasonic 12MP sensor, which apparently costs nothing, and then sell them for $400 with a line out the door.

Leica Mono..really?... i have seen shots from one... and not just pr shots... this looks nothing like a Leica Mono.... this photo is way below the quality you would expect from a Leica

I am referring to the image at the start of the thread...

I think if you look through some of his other M M shots you'll see better results. Not sure if those were taken as jpegs? His flickr id is ashwinrao1. I believe most of them were taken with the Summilux 50mm.

I believe the appeal a few weeks back for "dead m4/3 bodies" was in view of removing the color filter array for a monochrome sensor. That's all it is, really. Unfortunately, it costs so much to pull a few sensors off the production line before the color array that the price shoots up dramatically. :-(

Now you posted the link to the flickr page I can see some Leica looking results...the picture you originally posted was a pretty crappy example of what the mono is capable of... though looking at it on Flickr it seems that reposting it here didn't do it any faours quality wise either

That's what I was thinking of too. Some Pre WWII Leitz glass would be very interesting in that Leica.
