Leica lenses can be had at reasonable prices if one is patient and can accept some cosmetic 'issues'. I think they are worth the trouble. I am blown away by the IQ of this 45 year old optic. The Kipon Visoflex to m4/3 adapter works perfectly pentax_and_leica_400_5_6_131_-_Copy.JPG

...just to give a clearer notion of the IQ - the slight blur at the head is from subject movement pentax_and_leica_400_5_6_131_-_Copy_-_Copy.JPG

Nice! There are some excellent lens bargains out there if one is patient.

    on the apple tree

I still love the IQ, but it gets pretty tiring carrying this thing around and supporting it!. The shoulder stock helps a lot, and a monopod/tripod would be even better - but I am an inveterate hand holder. I haven't found the minimum focus distance yet (no scales) but I can get very close. 400_f5_6_Telyt_4_-_Copy.JPG

Wow. You seriously need a monopod for that monster.

Hey, the results you're getting speak for themselves so if you don't mind hand holding that beast, more power to ya :)

Very nice, really makes me want to get out my 250mm Telyt more. Clearly smaller and easier to hold. I have to try it out with the 2x converter, maybe a trip to the zoo needs to be planned :)

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for it? I've been waiting for a reasonably priced Elmarit-R 135/2.8 and it seems like the ebay prices are through the roof! Any other places to buy older Leica lenses?

I have been looking at the 135 R Elmarit also, but all the R lenses seem to have gone up in price quite a bit. I was lucky to get the 250 Telyt in almost new condition for around $300 on ebay but I also sold the 60mm Macro Elmarit and the 70-210 for ridiculously low prices compared to the current auction prices. The things you do to pay the rent....

Hmm....maybe I should give my Leica R 70-210/4 a decent outing one of these days....

I paid $325 for the 400 - with some external scratches and wear but flawless optics and smooth focus. I used the facts that it wasn't Leica collector perfect and is a Visoflex lens as bargaining points. The Visoflex lens to m4/3 adapter was $92!!

I am having trouble finding a uv or 1a filter for my lens. It appears to be 76mm. It is really for protection mostly. Any help appreciated.
