I've just gotten an FL-50R to use in FP and normal sync modes with my G2/GF1 + TTL cable. The next logical step appears to be a modifier of some sort and umbrellas seem to produce the nicest lighting. I'm mainly interested in something that I can squeeze into a backpack and use handheld or mounted to a tripod if needed, and came across one possibility:

Lastolite Brolly Grip + 50cm Umbrella

The one thing that concerns me is that the Brolly Grip doesn't have a screw to secure the umbrella. Instead, it appears to use an O-ring. That seems a little weak from a durability standpoint, but I guess that, in windy conditions, it's better for the umbrella to fly off than for the tripod to fall over and smash my equipment on the ground.

Anyone have experience or opinions about the Brolly?
