    Pricing is a little steep.

Too bad, I would have really like to play with that 8.5 rectilinear.

Thinking back, Kowa was always kind of expensive, but the quality was always very high. I have no interest in their cinematic value, but I don't mind manual everything for my still photos. I'd be interested seeing a review!

Yea, me too - but that price is pretty eye-watering.

There are a few reviews for the 8.5 - just ask Google!

We need to send samyang a petition for a 8.5mm f3.5 compact rectilinear prime for with filter threads.

I'd be prepared to pay £500-600 for a decent UWA prime. It needn't be f2.8, f4 would be fine. Manual focus and aperture is OK. However, a filter thread is a must. It would be nice if it wasn't too big or heavy either. Is that too much to ask?

CV makes 12mm & 15mm lenses you can get for around $500. Mate them to a FF camera and you have awesome rectilinear performance of a 6mm or 7.5mm in MFT....
