Recently acquired this lens and went out to get practicing on manual focusing. Sorry it's not the greatest example but think I'm gonna enjoy learning with it.

One of my first shots, just playing around. Wide open, jpeg straight from GF1. I like the bokeh.

Argh, I'm really torn between getting the 40mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.4. I'm already getting the 57mm f1.7, and I really like super sharp photos. Which one should I get to compliment the 57mm?

I like to do urban outdoors day and night, portraits, nature closeups

I don't know about the 50mm 1.4 but if you want sharp pictures and a good low light lens, stay away from the 40mm. @ 1.8 it is not sharp and has a lot of ghosting so you would have to stop it down a bit and than you don't really have a low-light lens anymore...

I have to agree. I have the Canon 50mm 1.4 and just got the Hexanon 40mm 1.8 today. It is noticeably soft at 1.8, definitely more than the Canon wide open. If you can only get one, I'd say get the 50mm. It's pretty sharp even at 1.4.

I'll probably use the Konica in daylight situations; since it'll be brighter I can stop down for sharper shots. I also prefer the 80mm effective focal length over the 100mm - I don't have to back up as much. The 40mm is also half as long and weighs at least half as much as my Canon. The 50mm is... hefty. You pay the price for quality f/1.4 lenses though. For night shots or more important portraitures I think I'll switch to the 50mm.

I had just attached my Konica 40 and was walking past my daughter's room. She was standing near the window, with only late afternoon natural light coming through the window.

Went for a brief walk in a nearby forest this morning. Dull light.

Grabbed this one at ISO100, f2.8

Should have taken my tripod...

I just received mine today. Here's a test shot of my usual lens test model.
