Great lens...I wish it were a little wider and a little faster *BUT*...it's unbeatable for its size and price!!! I got into the whole M4/3 game because I wanted a small system...the 9-18 figures in that philosophy exceptionally well!

It replaced my old Canon 16-35L II (one of the most respected and quite expensive lenses out there) and I have no huge complaints.

I've only used it around the house so far but its pretty neat. Wide, compact, cheap(ish), Images look fine for my modest needs, I've got a Samyang 7.5mm fish-eye and SLRMagic 8mm for comparison - the Oly is not as wide but the AF helps; even though people will often say a wide gets most things in focus when you stop down, I seem to have a knack for missing focus or being overly optimistic at my MF close-focusing skills.

By way of comparison, my D700 w/ MF 18mm Nikkor is a bigger combo.

Yes, I agree. Nice lens. I only wish it were a bit w i d e r !

I actually prefer the range it has, because it goes all the way to 18mm. So you can take UWA shots, street, and family snaps without changing lenses. If you paired it with a 35-100 f4-5.6, maybe you don't even need a standard zoom in the middle.

Most of the time my travel kit is the Gx85/9-18/35-100 f4/5.6.

I love this lens. It's a great range as @tkbslc pointed out. I think it really shines when you're doing a family museum trip. Wide enough to get shots of exhibits or architecture and usable at the long end for family shots.
