Just moved over to a LX100 from a Fuji X20

I loved the Fuji X20. It went everywhere with me. But it died on me after heavy use. Recently bought the LX100 to take its place. I am originally a big DSLR guy so I am in heaven with the light weight and capability of the LX100.

Here is my pimped out, taped out LX100:

    Why the tape?

Street shooters sometimes use tape to remove brand names to make the camera as stealthy as possible. It's primarily a Leica thing.

It's a Leica thing. Just habit from past 35 years of street shooting.

How do you find the focus speed for street shooting?

The one point auto focus serves my street needs.

Says Leica on the lens. Good enough for me. Plus now my Leica friends think I have a Leica. Psych!!!

Sorry but no Leica user will ever mistake an LX100 for a Leica.

Was that a snarky Leica retort on a Micro Four Thirds forum?? Egads.

For sure, man. But what if you took the grip and Lumix logo away, added a Red Dot and increased the price by a few hundred dollars?

Not snarky by any means. Just truth. Leica users, in general are are a fanatical bunch which can be seen in a positive or negative light depending on what your individual stance is amongst other things.

For the most part, they know their Leica gear and an LX100 isn't going to fool anyone into thinking it's a Leica, no matter how much gaffer tape is on the thing.

Then you'd have a Leica D-Lux (Typ 109). But again, the Leica enthusiast will spot the difference from a mile away as well as claim there is a different processing engine within that renders images differently.

Wow, I hope I never meet a Leica enthusiast. They seem really mean.

    This thread has gone south.

So, Kivis, how does that LX100 compare to your recently deceased X20?

While I've not seen a Type 109 in the flesh there do seem to be enough other differences that would be easy enough to spot that tape wouldn't hide.

But Steve is correct. Congrats on the LX100. It's a great camera I'm also looking to pickup.

I've considered the X10/X20/X30 at different times and really like the way they handle. The manual zoom on the Fujis is one of my biggest issues with the LX100. But at least the lens power zoom ring can be set to move directly between the classic focal lengths.
