It's super steamy humid and hot outside so I didn't spend much time when I went out back in the field looking around for something to shoot but I did try to be a little careful to do the best I could in the short time I gave myself. This is on a Panasonic G2. Various focal lengths, some crops and of course some creative post-processing. Anyway, for the price, I'm very happy with the 45-200 and it does seem to focus very quick for me. Occasionally when you're out near 200 and it's way out of focus, it will refuse to come into focus. I had to zoom back out a little, let the camera focus and then zoom in again and try again. Doesn't happen too often, but it did happen to me.

Thanks for posting the samples, they look great. I'm planning on buying this lens for use on my G1.

Your photos look good. I should be getting my copy this week. I can't wait to take it with me up to June Lake, CA next week.

Nice set! I particularly love the frog in water. Peekaboo!
This is likely caused by Panasonic's AF optimization algorithms in an effort to balance AF speeds. To make CDAF faster, I think Panasonic is generally hunting for focus in a short range around your current focal length. You can imagine the painful speed in trying to cover the entire focal range looking for focus on each and every shot, so I appreciate the optimization.

Just something to be mindful of on occasion to either trigger AF at a midrange point before moving out fully zoomed, or MF assist your way out there.
