That's the kit I had bought and I'm very happy with it.

The E-PL2 kit has just dropped from £500 to £300 here in the UK...

Yeah, I would get the E-PL2 kit. Get the single-lens if you have to, the 17mm pancake kit if you can, and wait on getting more lenses. The 40-150mm is nothing special, and you'll have a better foundation to build on more lenses with the E-PL2. You'll probably end up with much better lenses than the dual lens kit. It'll last you longer without the need to upgrade.

It was at Jessops, but I've just checked again and they seem to have sold out now so perhaps they were clearing stock (the E-PL3 has replaced the E-PL2 at the £500 price mark I bought my E-PL2 at about 6 weeks ago!)

I just missed the £299 E-PL2 Jessops deal by a couple of hours, called around the local ones and was informed they sold out extremely fast. Gutted.

Did you try the Newgate street branch? (I see you are in Newcastle) I ordered one into the branch for collect@store, but due to them messing up the order and taking a week to dispatch I ended up ordering another one for home delivery.

The other one could well be sitting under the counter forgotten about...
