As many of you know, Nik Software is sponsoring a monthly photo contest here at Mu-43.com. For the month of July, the contest theme is Portrait.

The contest winner will receive a full copy of the Nik Software product of his or her choice. There are six products to choose from: Nik Software, Inc. | Products

Contest Rules:

  • Participants must be registered members who have made no fewer than 3 posts here at mu-43.com.
  • You may enter a photo now and post later, but both the contest entry and the 3 qualifying posts must be made prior to midnight (GMT) on July 24, 2011.
  • Only one contest entry per person.
  • You may only enter a photograph which you yourself have made.
  • The entry photo must be taken with a Micro Four Thirds camera, and EXIF data must be intact so that this can be verified**.
  • Maximum photo dimension should not exceed 1024 pixels.
  • The photo may have been taken at any time, not necessarily during the month of the contest.
  • Moderators at Mu-43.com and SeriousCompacts.com and their families are ineligible.
  • To enter, simply post a photograph in this thread. HTML and code are enabled to make posting as easy as possible. For detailed information about how to post a photo in this or any other thread, see here.
[*]Each month, we will show the winning photo on the Mu-43.com home page. By entering the contest, you grant us permission to show your photo for this purpose in the event that you should win. Other than that you continue to hold all rights reserved with respect to copyright of your image.
[*]The contest winner will be determined by member vote (poll). Voting will begin on July 25th, 2011 and end after 7 days.
** The entry photo must be taken with a Micro Four Thirds camera, and EXIF data must be intact so that this can be verified. If you do not know what EXIF is, no need to worry. In most cases, the EXIF will be there automatically. In the event that the winning photo does not have intact EXIF data, we will ask the photographer for the original file (in-camera JPEG or RAW) so that we can verify that it was taken with a Micro 4/3 camera

Reminder: Mu-43.com members are eligible for a 15% discount on all Nik Software products by using the coupon code MU-43 at checkout.

Thanks to Nik Software for sponsoring this contest!

This may have been covered before, but why is it that pictures can have been taken at any time? Do we really want any picture taken since the G1 was introduced to be eligible?

How about a shorter timeframe that would put most participants on an equal footing, say 'dated after March 31, 2011'? Or does Nik (in this case) call the shots?

Just curious...

Hi Tom,

No, Nik doesn't call the shots. It's all on us. We don't have any specific reason to have or not have a time constraint.

We'll take your suggestion under advisement and discuss it.

I'm sure now that the subject has been broached others will offer opinions as well. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Cheers, Alan
