My brother Jonah grew some sweet potatoes in the vege garden for the first time this year. We knew nothing about potatoes and since they've been growing for ages, he decided to dig one up today to see what they were like. He found a top of one and started digging around the edges. Gave it a yank. It didn't budge. Dug more. Gave it another pull and it still didn't want to come out. He kept at it and I tell you what he got a bit of a Surprise. It was a big 'un.

    Joe with the sweet potato!

We were pretty amazed and we had to know how much it weighed. It tipped the scales at 3.6kg.

In the trolley are all the potatoes from just 1 plant. Fair swag of 'em. Jonah weighed each one and the total weight from the one plant came to 22.1 kg.

Hey Raf. In Australia we call 'em chips. I'd say 90 percent of Aussies have fish and chips if they're hungry. All nicely wrapped up in grey butchers paper. If you find a good country corner store you can get 3 bucks of chips and be so full , you can hardly get in the car. Good stuff:)

Sweet, yes. But can you grow 'em FAST?

My eight-year old had a 2nd grade science project to build a potato car for races down a plank. It was a father/son project. We were third.

Reframe a bit, convert to a stormy B&W effect with that Nik tryware, call it "Sweat Tatters" and you instantly win this month :43: contest in the Minor White/WPA section! :2thumbs:

"On the barbee" with herbs and garlic butter, so the "chips" get a nice crispy caramelized surface. Yum with burgers!

Of course, us yanks just say "grill them fries!"

That is awesome SRHEdD. I've never thought of doing that. Sounds like I should stick a soda bomb on top of one of these spuds. That should go aye. Congrats for coming 3rd! Top job.

My trial for Silver effex has expired so I've had to try my own b&w effex. So i've got the image but I've never heard of the Minor White/WPA section. Have you?

    Hows this. Does it work?

Nah... Close, but no cigar: the bare foot is lost. B^5 special FX syndrome: Bloody Black Borders Bury Barefoot.

About the Minor White contest? Sponsored by Pan Korop very Ltd. Winner seriously gets a genuine French Presse-purée (potato masher, but with French Cuisine flair).
