I recently read about a photographer named Jane Bown. I believe she is best known for her portraits of famous people (from the Beatles to the Queen) while working for the Observer. I think he stuff is just terrific (I especially like her portrait of Samuel Beckett). It's amazing what she can do with a simple setup and a whole lot of experience. Apparently he shot almost exclusively with OM1s, a 50/1.8 and and 85/2.

Makes me feel stupid for having more than three lenses.

    Great stuff.

I'd be curious to know if HCB actually took a photo of her, and what it looked like from his perspective.

Thanks for bringing this up! I adore her low key and minimalist approach.

She is indeed excellent, though I think her surname is Bown?

DANG (I hate it when I do that)...fixed.
  7. That 85/2 was my all-time favorite lens, until the 14-54 FT lens. Still my favorite prime — wish I still had it.
