A while ago I came across this article by Ctein:
Can You Get Good ISO 6400 from an Olympus E-P1?
The Online Photographer: Can You Get Good ISO 6400 from an Olympus E-P1?

As the theme is of interest for me I gave a try.
First I had to get a dreadful photograph to work on.
This is the original jpeg.

Then I followed his advice and converted the RAW pic with the supplied Oly software into a greyscale.

The jpeg was fully denoised.

The two layers were then combined into one picture and here is the result.

I am afraid it gets nowhere Ctein´s example, which is very convincing, but I am no expert at this procedure and would like to get some advice on how to improve on ISO 6400

best,
