I thought the EM5 has Pen's shutter that last about 100k click, since EM1 identify as Pro, Olympus should included a pro grade shutter like Cankon's 150k shutter.

    I think you're off by a factor of 10.

I don't know if there is an international standards organization that defines what a "pro grade" shutter is, lol.

We've had PEN's for awhile -- anyone know the shutter failure rate or average lifespan? That would be useful info.

I looked on the web, and there's no real data for the EM5 yet. I've never even come close to the magic 100k with a single camera.

    I think MT mentioned 150K

I saw someone posted in a thread long time ago, a member call Olympus to find out the shutter lifespan on EM5, the answer is 100k, it's same like Pen series, I would like to know about the EM1.

I have heard from I believe two different pages that this shutter is rated at 150,000 clicks. Don't remember the exact one, but I certainly wouldn't worry about it.

In 20 years of shooting the only shutter issue I've had was with a "PRO" body (EOS1v). I shoot about 100k images a year. Shutter life is not an issue to me for this new camera, as it wasn't for the EM5.

Does it matter that much? Shutters are replaceable. I believe I paid $300 for a replacement on a Canon 1DMK2.

Well, it would be a real issue if it failed in a non-trivial number of cases. But from everything I've seen, the vast majority of people will have sold the camera for a newer one long before the shutter goes bad.
