I've heard a rumour that the E-M1 is a Sigma design - apparently a rip off of the SD1 but with the Fovean replaced by a Sony sensor. Oly make nothing themselves these days except the lens hoods which is why they're never included with the lens and cost a fortune.

Source? This seems ridiculous to me.

Anyone can start a rumor, but without some corroborating data or information on the source it's just random noise.

Nah, it's the 12-40mm that's designed by Sigma, silly.

Are you sure it wasn't the SD1 that was based on the E-5? After all the camera was large enough for an APS-C (or full-frame) sensor.

I doubt it...for one, the Sigma's way bigger.

I'd believe that the 12-40 is a Siggy design, though, and I'd be a'ight with it (just like I'm okay with my amazing O75 being a Sigma)...I think Sigma's the most exciting lens maker (including Canon and Nikon) right now...

Nah; I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it made in the old Kiev factory where they made such delights as the Fed and Zorki. You know the cameras the Leitz company copied to make their first cameras.

Please note this may be a complete work of fiction ;)

Thankfully they also copied the bloody self-destruct features...that cost me a beautiful Zorki 4K :(

No at all. Olympus had requested me and I sent them the many and they picked up this design one ( this is a better rumour than sigma one lol ) .
