Is it possible to have an AF confirmation light in MF with M43?

I was wondering if it's possible to implement an AF confirmation light with manual focus on micro four-thirds? DSLRs are capable of this, so why not M43? Is there some aspect that the CDAF focus not allow it? People talk about peaking, but I could settle for this feature. I just find it odd, that there is no way to confirm focus in MF without eyeballing your image with micro four-thirds. Are there technical barriers that not allow it?

Nope, it relies on the Phase Detect system to function.

The camera can tell if something is in focus, which implies that it can continue to do so regardless of whether or not it has control over the lens. I have to think a little bit about the CDAF algorithm to be sure, but I'm pretty sure you can do it with edge detect...at the very least, it should be able to report how contrasty a focus zone is, which could be used as one type of focus assist.

Yes, that's focus peaking. But getting an adapter to do focus confirmation won't work.
