Is a good second-hand Olympus Zuiko 12mm/f2.0 worth $550.00 ?

A local Olympus dealer has offered me a Olympus Zuiko 12mm/f2.0 for the equivalent of US$550.00 (In my home country they retail at US1 100.00 - insanity !). It's my guess that the lens has been in his armoury for about four years and it appears to be in good condition, he's selling it in favour of one of Oly's newer w/a zooms (He is a pro-photographer).

Back in my Pentax days (film), I kept a 24mm/f2.8 SMC Pentax-A lens permanently clipped onto the body of my K1000, I found the extra width of a 24 so much better than the ubiquitous 28's.

Your comments / advice would be appreciated.

That's a pretty good price! If you actually like that focal length on a prime, it's well worth a consideration. I tend to prefer a 12-X zoom, however, like your dealer friend.

I just picked up this lens on the olympus website for $479 refurbished here in the U.S. Not sure how that would work in your area though.

Thankyou for your comments. I'll let the planet spin a few more times before making a decision.
