You're probably right, but ultrasound and/or x-ray testing might be in ouder. After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, structural analysis of elevated freeways, bridges and tunnels throughout California revealed that a high percentage of these structures would be unsafe in another similar earthquake, although none showed major visible structural faults. Scary!

BTW, by the end of 2011, less than 5% of the indicated repairs had been finished.
