Working with our honeybees and making one more colony. Its done by dividing a good number of bees and they will produce a new queen.

It really hard to get sharp "close" shots of bees in full/almost full flight, nothing like when they slow down for land or take of from a flower...

I like the second last one with the flying bees. I should imagine very hard to capture them on the move.

Broddan, I can't quite make out how the hive goes together from your photos. Do you have a brood box at the bottom separated by a queen excluder from the supers as we do in the UK? Great photos by the way, the thought of taking my suit of to take photos would make me squirm ... Geoff PS. I miss my bees.

    Hi!

    Yes we do.

Actually these hives is located at my GF parents (They are in the process of learning with our help). So all the bees in the photos is the "new" colony. They did a big mistake and shut them (forgot to take away that net) in so the queen didn't flew out and mated.
Not to mention not getting to water, its been pretty hot so they where at real danger. I couldn't locate the queen or big queen cell so not so good. We will have to keep and eye on it.
