    Made do....

I went through the same agony--what a beautiful looking lens, it deserves the best possible hood available. Then the practical cheapskate in me remembered I had an extra lens hood for my old Minolta ZD-1 digizoom. The diameter was slightly wider, but nothing a little magic (duct) tape couldn't handle!

The image police will now probably come after me. At least everything matches, including my old E-P1 and VF-1.

Taken with the E-P2 and Zuiko 17mm 2.8.

    P4270022.

All that's missing is a butcher string neck strap, or zip tie wrist strap and you'll be the envy of every hobo in town.Maybe Saran wrap for a screen protector. Do you use a paper bag to haul your kit? Lol
I'm sure it doesn't effect the images taken.

Is it me, or are you using a 17mm optical viewfinder with a 45mm lens?

Your hood looks very similar to my knock off one, and it was $14 delivered from hong kong. But it says "JJC replaces LH-40B" instead of OLYMPUS. Is it plastic or metal construction?

    Plastic.
However, I readily admit to being "eccentric" and I wanted the Olympus one.

Also, I like to support small businesses so I had no issues with purchasing from my local brick n' mortar store

(Sorry, RT that this got hijacked).

    Atomic:

I just happen to keep the VF-1 on my E-P1 all the time, otherwise I will misplace it. Only use it with the 17mm or Panny 20mm.

I to like to support my brick n' mortar and have made major purchases there. Olympus doesn't include a hood with their glass, and I have an issue with the price of said hoods. Panny doesn't mind including one and a bag as well.

    PS Yours does look better!

I bought JJC hoods for both my 12mm and 45mm. They seem to do the job well. The 45mm hood is plastic but the JJC 12mm hood is metal

I was wondering if the 12 was metal, good to know.

    I *believe* that the 12mm is metal - but I don't own it so I don't know....
