Do I go with the 18mm and get everything in, from the frozen peas to the fishfingers?

Do I use the glowy FED and portrait all the checkout girls?

Do I use the CZJ 135mm to get a deep and meaningful interrogation of the olives on the deli counter?

    SupermarketLenses.

(Not really going to the supermarket)
    I'll get me coat ...

Might I suggest that if you start showing up at the local supermarket and start taking photos of all of the checkout girls, you really need to ask their permission before doing so, or you might get bounced to the sidewalk on your posterior. And if you start taking photos of the fish and the vegetables, the folks in the store may think you're short of a few fruit loops.

The FED is best if you intend to take pictures of people in lines for bread.

Be sure to use flash in the cleaning products aisle.

There's a story from Formula One racing years ago (probably apocryphal but it's from the British so one never knows for sure) that a driver pulled into the pits to change from brown to black shoes "because one doesn't wear brown shoes after 6 p.m.".

Drivers today have better safety equipment but drivers of old had more panache.

    :2thumbs:

    Regards,

    Jim

*I don't think this response is off topic because I don't think the topic had a topic .

Actually, ONE thing would be worse - if the surface of the shoes was flaking off.

probably as serious as my reply was - sometimes it's hard to see someone's tongue in cheek over the internet.

Hehe, fair point, Doug. That's the Internet's biggest failing - well, one of them anyway!

Definitely don't forget your lighting gear, I'm thinking a couple of 50" softboxes, maybe a beauty dish or three... Don't want to be caught out wanting when you come across that particularly ripe grapefruit.

Some great replies so far, I particularly like the advice to use flash in the cleaning aisle and the FED for the bread queues. :laugh1:

Are you saying the FED has a nice "glow" to the colors? I say go with that one because A) I would love to see it's colors B) 105mm-equivalent will be an interesting FL!

    Good info ...

This will be very helpful when I try to determine which lenses I should take when I go lens shopping.

A pancake lens can be quite useful.
